Dear Parents/Guardians & Lancers,


PSAT testing will occur during the school day at Bristol Eastern High School on Wednesday, October 7th, which is a half day due to parent teacher conferences. Testing will begin promptly at 7:35 am. The PSAT is an important test, as it provides valuable experience for your student and also provides the school with important information on student progress.  


During the first three blocks of the day: 


  • Students in Grade 9 will take the PSAT 8/9 to get early feedback on their knowledge in the areas that matter most for college and career readiness. For more information, please visit: The PSAT 8/9 

  • Students in Grades 10 and 11 will take the PSAT/NMSQT. The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is structured similarly to the SAT, with the same sections and timing. It measures the Reading, Writing, and Math skills needed to succeed in college and career. It can also qualify juniors for the National Merit Scholarship Program and other scholarships. For more information, please visit the PSAT/NMSQT website. Grade 11 students must arrive at 7:35, even if they have late arrival.

  • Grade 12 students will engage in post-secondary activities with school counselors and English teachers or take the SATs.

    ***Students who attend BTech will go after testing has concluded.***


After testing, students will report to their regularly scheduled fourth block classes, during which they will have lunch. 


Reminders for students on the day of the Connecticut SAT/PSAT:

  • PSATs are administered digitally, and students will take the exams on their Chromebooks. Students need to bring them to school fully charged. 

  • Come well-rested, ON TIME, and ready to do your best on the PSAT.

  • Backpacks, books, CELL PHONES, smartwatches, cameras, recording devices, and timers will be placed in a secure location in the classroom and returned after testing concludes. 

  • Calculators are not required. A Desmos and a scientific calculator are built into the testing platform and will be available during the math sections. If you choose to bring one, you may not bring calculators with wireless connections and/or touch screens.
