"A school counselor, who is in a counseling relationship with a student, has an ethical and legal obligation to keep information contained within that must be maintained unless keeping that information confidential leads to foreseeable harm. “Serious and foreseeable harm is different for each minor in the school setting and is determined by students’ developmental and chronological age, the setting, parental rights and the nature of harm” (ASCA, 2022)."

In other words:
What we discuss in our school counseling office is kept between us, EXCEPT when:
-You are hurting yourself
-Someone is hurting you
-You want to hurt someone else
If you are in danger, by law, we must report to appropriate parties in order to keep you safe.

Please see your counslor if you have questions or concerns about this matter.
